Just before college, while Faulkner grew up in what she describes as being a “really outdoorsy” family, her exercise of decision was mountaineering, not cycling, as she told NBC Information. She attended highschool at Phillips Andover Academy and joined the rowing, swimming, and operating groups—even now no helmet or clip-in shoe in sight.“
